What is premature ejaculation?
Finishing early during sex is a lot more common than people think. It affects the majority of men at some point in their lives, but because of stigma it isn’t spoken about very often. It’s probably not something that you would chat about with your mates down the pub, right?
If you have premature ejaculation, whether you realised this yourself or if someone has said that you have premature ejaculation, try not to panic.
I know that it’s easier said than done, especially as anxiety and stress can be symptoms as well as the strong>cause of cumming too quickly. It’s a case of what came first, the chicken or the egg?
One thing that might put your mind at ease is knowing that cumming too quickly is not a disease; it is either a habit, a symptom of stress/anxiety or a bit of both.
In Italy in 2015 Dr. Vincenzo Puppo and Dr. Giulia Puppo (a father and daughter research team) conducted a study on ejaculation and came to the conclusion that "premature ejaculation is not a disease and must not be classified as a male sexual dysfunction”.
There are two main ways that premature ejaculation can manifest:
Primary Premature Ejaculation is when premature ejaculation has always been experienced and is usually because of habitual fast masturbation.
Secondary Premature Ejaculation is sudden and can appear out of the blue. It often happens after a stressful event such as divorce or work pressures. It can also happen due to performance anxiety if you haven’t had sex for a long time.
If you do find this happening to you, it isn’t all bad news, because it is possible for you to learn new habits and new ways of calming your nervous system.
